70 YEARS OF SUPPORT & COLLABORATION

"For the past four years, I have been honored to receive the James F. Swift Scholarship to support my undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania. I have immense gratitude for the opportunities that were granted to me with the scholarship, and during my time at Penn I was able to lead peer-reviewed Neurosurgery research projects, serve as the President of a student organization, and contribute to volunteerism throughout the Philadelphia community. With the aid of the Scranton Area Community Foundation, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Neuroscience and will matriculate to the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine to pursue an MD in the Fall. Thank you to the Scranton Area Community Foundation for their support of young students from our community seeking higher educational opportunities!"

"Scranton Area Community Foundation has been one of our closest community partners since Moses Taylor Foundation was established. We always know we can rely on the Scranton Area Community Foundation to be a responsive, collaborative, and engaged champion for our shared work to serve Northeastern Pennsylvania. We particularly value their leadership in the area of capacity building and strengthening nonprofit organizations. The Foundation’s Center for Community Leadership and Nonprofit Excellence has grown by leaps and bounds over the years and they are constantly finding new and innovative ways to support our nonprofit community. We are extremely proud to support the Foundation and look forward to many continued years of partnership. Thank you, Scranton Area Community Foundation, for all of your significant contributions to our community throughout the past 70 years!"

"Receiving the Neal J. Fasula Scholarship was an absolute honor and has helped get me to where I am today. The scholarship helped me receive a great college education at Misericordia University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management. With that degree, I was able to reach my goal of working in professional sports. I am now celebrating my 14th year with the New York Yankees and 7 years as an Adjunct Professor teaching at New York University. I couldn’t be more grateful to the entire Fasula family as this scholarship has helped bring me so many opportunities.

Congratulations to the Scranton Area Community Foundation on celebrating 70 years!"

"The Scranton Area Community Foundation has been a terrific partner in various capacities. My clients appreciate that the Foundation provides the opportunity to create charitable funds while allowing the professional advisor to continue with fund oversight. Additionally, when my wife and I decided to establish a charitable fund, it was important to us that the Scranton Area Community Foundation administer the fund, and it’s been such a positive experience. For anyone interested in supporting various causes within the community, they would be making the right choice by working with the Scranton Area Community Foundation. The Foundation's expertise and passion for organized philanthropy surely enhances the quality of life for all people in Northeastern Pennsylvania."

"I’ve had the honor and privilege of serving on the Scranton Area Community Foundation’s board with two of the three executive leaders, Jeanne Bovard and Laura Ducceschi. During my tenure, I chaired the legacy committee, served on the distribution committee and executive committee, and also held positions as Vice Chair and Chair. One of my proudest achievements was co-chairing the Women in Philanthropy initiative, now celebrating its tenth year. Witnessing the wonderful philanthropic work of the Foundation, my husband and I established two endowment funds, The Broderick Fund, supporting The Arc of NEPA, and The Broderick Family Fund, which supports area nonprofits. It has been a true pleasure to collaborate with the highly competent executive, staff, and governance team at the Scranton Area Community Foundation, who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents of NEPA. Congratulations on 70 years of leadership and innovation!"
