As the Scranton Area Community Foundation proudly celebrates its 70th Anniversary this year, I reflect on our tremendous impact on Northeastern Pennsylvania and my
journey with this remarkable organization.
As a proud Board Governor and the Development Committee Chair, I see firsthand the transformative power of philanthropy in our community, and I truly understand the magnitude of the Foundation’s work. From providing vital resources to local nonprofits to creating opportunities for those in need, the Scranton Area Community Foundation has been a steadfast partner in driving positive change since 1954.
Our mission to improve the quality of life for people, projects, and causes in Northeastern Pennsylvania has always been personal to me. I’ve seen lives changed, communities uplifted, and hope restored—all because of the generosity of individuals like you. The Foundation’s success over these past 70 years is rooted in the trust and support of our donors, and we have much more work ahead to ensure that legacy continues.
This year, we are taking a historic step in securing a permanent home for the Scranton Area Community Foundation in Lackawanna County, which will allow us to serve the community in even greater ways. Thanks to the incredible gift of the Century Club building, located on Jefferson Avenue, we will soon have a dedicated space to convene nonprofit organizations, host vital services, and bring together community leaders to solve the pressing challenges of our time.
As we undertake this exciting renovation project and look ahead to our Platinum Pledge Campaign in 2024, please join me in supporting this critical initiative. Your donation will help us preserve this historic building, enhance its accessibility as a welcoming space, expand our philanthropic work, and ensure that 100% of the funds raised stay local in the community we all care so deeply about.
